What kind of remote fob you have? Is it RF square one with 2 buttons? If so then you do not have Lucas EV2 but Lucas 5AS system and it should be mounted above drivers pedals if I am not mistaken.

Tail pipes facing downward are for diesel engine, not petrol engines.

I would first inspect the terminals at starter motor to be sure they have firm connection. To me this sound as starter problem so I would focus first on the starter motor.

With production year 1996 you should have Lucas alarm system, so what I said above is correct for you.
Fobs you should try to find are 3TXB or TN17, and someone with T4 or PScan near you to programm them onto your car.

What year of production is your car?
I am assuming is that you have Lucas 5AS alarm system and what you need is remote fob for operating central locking and alarm.

Lakage can be internal as a problem of warn headgasket which allows coolant in the oil. Do you have rise of amount of oil when checking on dipstick?

Other possibility is weeping on water pump but new water pumps tend to have evaporator so you will not see coolant on it.

MG F and MG TF are very sensitive which tyres you put on car on rear and on front. I am not expert on MG TF tyres but I would take attention on which tyres you have on front and which tyres you have on back. Not all manufacturers are the same and MG TF is picky about that.

You asked if I have electric diagrams and its connections. I said that I have 2 pages of electric diagrams which correspond to engine ECU and its electrical connections.

That wire goes to central control unit (unit that controls the doors, fuel pump, etc). That wire provides power through central control unit to fuel pump relay. This means you need to find that wire on central control unit pin numner 3. In Engine control unit this wire is on pin number 13.

In that case you might found the faulty switch - the one on the back door.
